Killdeer nest Killdeer nest Killdeer trap

A Killdeer's nest is located in this cultivated fields between the two sticks. Massachusetts, 1957.
Killdeer nest with four eggs. The nest is fairly obvious in this picture but nests are very difficult to locate.
A trap placed over the nest. The adult bumps the stick propping up the mesh basket which descends capturing the bird which can be banded and released.
